DETAILS OF THE RECENT LANDMARK WORK DONE BY VIVEK MITTAL

                   & RKFI ON RTE and securing CHILD RIGHTS

In July 2011 a leading public school of Delhi had arbitrarily denied admission to many applicants of admission for Class 3 and Class 2 despite availability of vacant seats and Good Performance of the Applicants. Vivek Mittal and his foundation R K FOUNDATION INDIA (RKFI) had at that time promptly taken up the matter with NCPCR. As a result NCPCR had passed the said matter to DCPCR being the nodal body for RTE in the Delhi State. For about 6 months RKFI perseverently took up the matter with DCPCR ensuring submission of necessary documents, taking care of extensive deliberations with the FULL COMMISSION of DCPCR. As a result of RKFI’s efforts, DCPCR had ordered Directorate of Education to conduct an enquiry into the matter. After the submission of the enquiry report by the Directorate of Education in which the issues raised by RKFI were found to be true. This issue was again deliberated at length before Full Commission of DCPCR wherein RKFI strongly advocated strictest action against the said school. Finally in January 2012 as a result of RKFI’s efforts Full Commission of DCPCR had issued its recommendations to the Directorate of Education.

The Recommendations are as under :-

1 - to levy fine on the said school as per RTE 2009 norms

2 - to warn the school for not repeating the violation again and

3 - to admit all students (approx.. 46) who were suffering owing to arbitrary denial of

     admission for no reason whatsoever.

The abovementioned recommendations of DCPCR had already been implemented.

Whilst RKFI was fighting for Justice several times various Government entities and other vested interests had discouraged them, however RKFI continued with their efforts perseverently unhindered by the threats of the vested interests.

NONETHELESS as a fall out of the perseverent efforts of Prof. VIVEK MITTAL, FIMA and RKFI, Government of NCT of Delhi had instructed all the schools of Delhi State to stop with immediate effect the SCREENING/EVALUATION/INTERVIEW of applying students/their parents for the purpose of Admission. In the true spirit of RTE admission has to be granted may be by draw or by other methods of random selection.

ALSO when Prof. VIVEK MITTAL, FIMA and RKFI were struggling for securing Child Rights at the said school, at one stage School Management had offered to admit 2 students of RKFI's choice to settle the matter. But as our Conscience did not allowed this kind of DEAL, RKFI had refused this awkward Offer and with all the more strength had lobbied for the Admission of all the 46 students. We believe this is a RARE example of sacrifice of SELF INTEREST to save the Rights of all the suffering children. Well Really Inspirational for our FANS

Last but not least the abovementioned description of RKFI struggle for securing CHILD RIGHTS may seem somewhat insignificant to sceptics?, nonetheless RKFI believes that "SUCH MATTERS ARE EASIER SAID THAN DONE" !
